Community collaborates for Maningrida Youth Strategy

The Northern Territory Government’s Department of Chief Minister and Cabinet have provided funding to West Arnhem Regional Council to project lead the Maningrida Youth Strategy on behalf of stakeholders in Maningrida with a vested interest in youth affairs.
Consultant Geoff Evans was appointed to consult with community members in Maningrida and has made several visits to yarn with young people, families and Elders about the youth story in Maningrida.
During his visits, Geoff conducted community-based consultations, was able to visit facilities that youth predominantly use and go on Country to yarn with youth. 
West Arnhem Regional Council would like to extend their thanks to all stakeholders who prioritised the consultations, particularly Njamareya Cultural Leaders and Justice Group for their work in facilitating community consultations. 
The Maningrida Youth Strategy will support a collective approach amongst key youth providers to further improve current levels of collaboration and capacity-strengthening. 
The first draft of the Youth Strategy will be presented to the Maningrida Youth Strategy Action Group in by the end of October with opportunities for stakeholders to provide feedback.
