2022 Kakadu Triathlon registrations open

25 March 2022

The ninth annual Kakadu Triathlon will be back in Jabiru on Saturday, 14 May 2022 and online registrations have opened this week.
West Arnhem Regional Council staff have been working with the CareFlight team to build a new website and are gearing up for another exciting event in May.
With the 2021 event attracting over 120 competitors and more than $15,000 raised for CareFlight, event organisers are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year in support of the most colourful, and only, triathlon in Kakadu National Park.
This year’s event will run in the same format involving the open triathlon and duathlon and the junior races, with the event circuit incorporating the town pool and streets of Jabiru.
The triathlon and duathlon includes those over 14 years of age and the junior skills events are for those under 14.
Here are the categories:
• Open Triathlon (individual or team) - Swim 250m / Bike 7.5km / Run 2.5km
• Open Duathlon (individual or team) - Run 2.5km / Bike 7.5km / Run 2.5km
• Junior Team Relays (12-13 year olds)
• Juniors (12 years and under)
As an exciting addition to the event, organisers are also planning a Colour Fun Run around the Jabiru Lake the day before the actual triathlon – this will be supported by the Indigenous Marathon Project.
More details about this new special event will be announced in coming weeks. This will also be an additional fundraising effort in support of CareFlight.
For those participating in the triathlon, you will have the opportunity to do some additional fundraising for CareFlight where people can ‘sponsor’ you to help reach a target goal, or anyone can make a general donation to CareFlight.
CareFlight is an important service in the Top End which continues to save lives of people in remote communities, including Jabiru, Maningrida, Warruwi, Minjilang and Gunbalanya.
