Artist Shaun Lee visits Warruwi to complete murals

17 December 2021

Artist Shaun Lee has visited Warruwi recently to bring colour and life through murals at the new community ablution block and the youth chill space.
West Arnhem Regional Council (WARC) commissioned Shaun to paint the ablution block mural through SCALE funding mid-late 2020, and the community are excited to see the project come to life.
The building itself features a mens, ladies and disabled toilet facilities and is situated in a centralised part of the community for public use.
Meanwhile, WARC also engaged the artist to complete a mural at the popular chill space as a way of enhancing the interior of the recreation hall, while also engaging the children and the youth who use the space to help paint ‘their space’.
To do this, Shaun worked with some of the children and the youth programs, including Youth Sport and Recreation and OSHC, to finalise the look of the mural inside the chill space at the recreation hall. The Chill Space mural has been funded through the of NIAA-funded OSHC program.
The imagery itself, reflects the Warruwi community.
