PARKS is urging drivers to keep an eye out for wildlife, after three small crocodiles were killed by vehicles in less than a fortnight.
Kakadu National Park’s Steve Winderlich said while it was highly unusual to see crocodiles killed in this way, it was fairly common to encounter wildlife on Kakadu’s roads.
“With the water around at this time of year, we’re seeing lots of turtles, snakes and even crocodiles crossing our highways,” Steve said.
“When you’re driving in the park, please look out for our native wildlife and keep a safe distance.”
Native species are protected in Kakadu under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
Please report any injured wildlife to park staff at the Bowali Visitor Centre on 8938 1120.
