Celebrating Territory Day in West Arnhem communities

10 June 2021

The Northern Territory is famous for its Territory Day celebrations, and the theme for this year is ‘Home’.
The safe, vibrant and welcoming Northern Territory has become a haven not only for those who already live here and returning Territorians, but also for those who looked north, saw something better, and decided to call the Territory home.
Four signature and 17 community events – all complete with fireworks – will take place across the Territory, uniting us as we celebrate everything we love about this unique place we call home.
Appealing to both Territorians and visitors, the four signature events will include a special Welcome to Country, to drive home the Territory’s proud Aboriginal heritage.
Territory Day events in West Arnhem communities will take place in Maningrida  with a professional firework display, games for the kids and a barbecue. There will also be an event in Jabiru at the Jabiru Lake with a barbecue and music for all to enjoy.
The Katherine and Tennant Creek events will have a ‘homegrown’ focus, with an exciting array of local musicians given the opportunity to perform.
Family friendly events across this vast land, from Groote Eylandt to Yulara, will help regional and remote communities celebrate what they love about home.
