Children's Ground celebrates first birthday

On Thursday 27 November 2014, Traditional Owners and Children's Ground CEO Jane Vadiveloo welcomed the residents of Jabiru and surrounding communities to celebrate their first year of achievements at the Wurdurd Garriyigarrmerren Community Centre.

The birthday party featured live performances, Kid's Kingdom, bush foods, music, dance, Bininj Gunborrk and more. Respected translator Dr Murray Garde was on hand to translate the welcome and announcements, while Justin O'Brien, CEO of Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation, which funds the educational and cultural initiative, was presented with an award acknowledging Gundjeihmi's ongoing support and commitment.

Gifts of framed children's artworks were presented to a number of local organisations, including the West Arnhem Regional Council, who are working in partnership with Children's Ground to help them achieve their goals.
