Community Safety Program in Minjilang

06 September 2021

West Arnhem Regional Council's (WARC) Community Safety Program in Minjilang has five staff members - one full time, two part time and two casuals.
The staff are very proactive supporting the community with community safety and engagement.
Through this program, they work with many families and stakeholders providing excellent outcomes using their knowledge, experience and skills.
They communicate with the Traditional Owners on a regular basis to discuss the needs of the community and implementing plans and strategies to achieve goals and outcomes, to ensure community members are safe during cultural/sorry business, youth engagement, domestic and family violence issues and community unrest.
The Community Safety Officers are extremely active with community events, promoting school attendance and education, providing support and participation within the youth programs. They are presently working in partnership with all WARC staff to establish a Men’s Shed program as a new goal for the Minjilang community.
