CONGRATULATIONS to Clare Piamnok from Papua New Guinea, who became an Australian citizen in a ceremony at the West Arnhem Regional Council (WARC) offices in Jabiru on Thursday 26 March 2015.

Clare, whose father Mathew works at the Environmental Research Institute of the Supervising Scientist in Jabiru, has this year commenced her studies in Biomedical Science at Griffith University, after graduating from Year 12 at St Patrick’s College in Townsville.

West Arnhem Mayor Lothar Siebert presided over the ceremony, attended by Clare’s family and Council staff.

Master of Ceremonies on teh day, WARC Customer Services and Administration Team Leader Ashley Smirl, organised a morning tea and cake to mark the occasion, while Clare presented Mayor Siebert with a gift of a woven bilum from her family’s village of Teleformine in Papua New Guinea.

The Council would like to thank the Department of Immigration for expediting the citizenship process, and we welcome Clare as a new citizen of Australia.
