Jabiru is really splashing out this time, and the pool may never be the same!

The Jabiru community has managed to raise just shy of $15,000 to in order to purchase a new pool inflatable. The West Arnhem Regional Council pool at Maningrida has a pool inflatable, but there is not one in Jabiru.

All that is about to change. Jabiru United in Community Events (JUICE) volunteer Aoife Harrison says the group is ”beyond excited” to announce the community has met its fundraising goal and will go ahead with the purchase.

“This purchase has only been possible through the amazing support JUICE has received for fundraising events such as The Croods Movie Night, Mahbilil Festival, Street Market Stalls, Kakadu Groove Market Stalls, Raffles and International Women’s Day,” she said.

“Together with the generous financial support of West Arnhem Regional Council, Jabiru Sports & Social Club and Energy Resources of Australia, as well as donations from Children’s Ground, Westpac Bank Jabiru and the Kakadu Groove Committee, we have met our goal.”

Funds raised will purchase the Exmouth Dual Racer inflatable, as well as a blower, trolley, non-slip mat, Rules of Play sign, logos and freight to Jabiru.

“The Exmouth Dual Racer will take six to eight weeks to complete and will then be flown, all 118 kilos of it, to Darwin,” Aoife said. “It will then travel by courier to Jabiru.”

The highly anticipated launch of The Exmouth Dual Racer is planned for this year’s Children’s Christmas Party, to be held at Alberto Luglietti Memorial Swimming Pool in Jabiru on Saturday December 6.

Registrations for the kids' pool party will open early November.
