Gunbalanya will be hosting a community netball exhibition match as part of its Australia Day celebrations, to be held on Saturday 24 January. The game will get underway at 12 noon at the Youth Centre courts.

West Arnhem Regional Council Youth Development Coordinator Sharna Cropley said the netball activities were being conducted in partnership with Netball Australia and TEAMhealth.

"Two people from Netball Australia will be coming to Gunbalanya from Wednesday to Saturday to assist," Sharna said. "We'll be holding a netball skills clinic from 3 to 4.30pm at the Youth Centre courts. This will lead into the community exhibition match planned for our Australia Day celebrations on Saturday 24 January."

Women and girls of all skill levels are welcome to attend, she said.

"This is a good opportunity for young women to come along and learn new skills. If there is enough interest we would like to start running a local competition."

The netball game will be followed by the main event for the community's Australia Day celebrations, a football scratch match at Gunbalanya Oval at 1pm. There will be an Australia Day community barbecue after the game. All are welcome!

The West Arnhem Regional Council thanks the Australia Day Council for its generous sponsorship of these events.
