Halloween disco at Maningrida Pool

08 November 2018

Youth of all ages came down to the pool in style for a fun night of dress-ups, games, swimming and dancing and Halloween was the perfect excuse to throw a fun-themed disco event on Friday, November 2.
There was quite a bit of setting up to do with streamers, balloons and a fish barbecue to prepare, and there were some amazing young helpers to get everything looking fantastic and they had a great time doing it as well.
From 5pm that afternoon, the little and big kids came along with their parents to the pool for a nice refreshing swim and the music beats were pumping while everyone chilled back and relaxed.
The games kicked off with limbo and there were some very competitive contestants who all did remarkably well. The happy winner of the game took home a nice goodie bag with a hat, a drink bottle and some new headphones.
There were also some very keen contestants in the chocolate game and the aim was to roll a 6 on the dice to get a chance in the middle of the circle to eat some of the chocolate block.
There were cheeky laughs, excited screams and of course sticky hands and bellies full of chocolate.

To get everyone out of the pool and ready for the fish feast, all children had to put a dress up on and conga around the pool, followed by a dance circle with some great moves on show.
Before dinner was served, there was one last surprise, which was a human piñata. The brave lifeguards Leeroy and Gordon volunteered to be chased by the kids around the pool with the chance to rip the lollies off their shirts.
They were great sports, however the kids were very quick and very hungry so the boys weren’t able to run very far before being swarmed.
Before the night was over everyone feasted on some beautiful fish and then headed home.
A big ‘thank you’ to MPA for the delicious fresh fish, the lifeguards who made sure everyone was safe throughout the night, and to all of those who came and got involved in the community spirit.
