Jabiru Bombers defeat Bulldogs in First Semi Final game

09 March 2018

The Jabiru Bombers took on their arch-rival Banks Bulldogs in the Division Two NTFL First Semi Final last Saturday in Darwin.
The Bombers dominated the game early but kicked inaccurately to post seven behinds in the first quarter to the Bulldogs one solitary behind.
By half time the Bulldogs held a slim one point margin 3.3-21 to the Bombers 2.8-20.
The Bulldogs by now were well and truly back in the game, kicking a further four goals in the third quarter to the Bombers one goal to go into three quarter time leading by a game high 19 points – Banks 7.4-46 to the Bomber’s 3.9-27.
But the Bombers were not going down without a fight, and despite having two players sent from the field for undisciplined acts, they rallied to kick five goals to the Bulldogs and one goal to win an incredible game by five points – Jabiru 8.12-60 to Bulldogs 8.6-54.
Best players for the Bombers were Sampson Henry Junior in the backline, Mickitja Rotumah-Onus Jnr through the midfield and Gunbalanya young gun Kingston Naborlhborlh who kicked three last quarter goals to spark the Bombers to a memorable comeback victory.
The Bombers face a third consecutive elimination final this Saturday night when they take on Waratah Football Club at TIO 2 with the game commencing at 7pm under lights. The winner will then go on to face Nightcliff Spartans in the grand final next Saturday. Go Bombers!
