Jabiru Bushratz return for bumper 2020 season

14 February 2020

It is that time of year again when all the Jabiru Bushratz start getting excited as the rugby union season is just around the corner.
The 2020 Darwin Junior Club Rugby competition will kick off on Friday, February 28, running through until week 9 of term 2. Training is every Monday and Wednesdays at 4.45pm – 6pm at Magela Oval.
We encourage all players, parents and community members who want to be involved in any way shape or form to turn up for both trainings each week and have some fun with their mates as well as continuing to learn the game and evolve as young rugby players. Bushratz Rugby  Union Club is also having a weekend camp in Jabiru on February 14 to 16.
The weekend camp will not only involve rugby union content, it will include and focus on team building, team work, healthy lifestyles, leadership and a variety of fun inclusive games and fundamental movement skills.
The camp will incorporate the holistic, physical literacy approach where all four domains are embraced, which are: social, cognitive, psychological and physical.
The camp is also aimed at parents/community members who are keen to get involved this year in any way shape or form.
There will be a ‘Kids Coaching Course’ on Friday evening (theory based around SMART Rugby) and Saturday morning (practical based around games). This will help build the Bushratz workforce on the ground.
To help assist with this dynamic weekend camp, Northern Territory rugby union and Triathlon NT are coming out for the weekend, bringing their expertise and passion to help run an action packed weekend of fun, learning and activities.
The Jabiru Bushratz rugby union programs main emphasis is building a highly inclusive and exceptionally fun atmosphere where people of all ages want to be a part of and involved in.
Our program’s mission is to engage, develop and empower individuals towards lifelong participation in sports so they can live and lead an active, healthy lifestyle that they can enjoy.
This is done and achieved by positive first experiences, exploration and exposure of different fundamental skills, activities and games.
The Bushratz welcome and look forward to seeing any new players and community members down at training.
Please contact Bryn Templeman or Andrew Lehmann for any further information.
