NORFORCE visit Warruwi community

25 March 2022

Army staff from NORFORCE visited Warruwi on Thursday, 24 March with many community members taking lots of interest and hopefully NORFORCE recruitment will be busy with some follow ups.
The North-West Mobile Force (NORFORCE) was formed in 1981 and is one of three Regional Force Surveillance Units (RFSUs) employed in surveillance and reconnaissance of the remote areas of northern Australia.  They have some fantastic programs to encourage and develop young indigenous people from the northern parts of Australia. The commitment is far less than you would expect and some amazing free training opportunities are available.
Staff from West Arnhem Regional Council including Council Service Manager Matt Griffiths and NORFORCE reservists, West Arnhem staff Misman KRIS and Ed took the crew around South Goulburn Island and shared experiences of the island and previous events and shared cooperation between West Arnhem and NORFOFRCE. The crew saw some of the magnificent areas on the island and also saw reef sharks and other fish in the waters.
