Program facilitates two-ways learning

10 September 2021

West Arnhem Regional Council’s Acting Wellbeing Services Coordinator in Warruwi Leah Holt recently facilitated an activity through the Day Patrol program, supporting ‘’both ways learning’. This program aids young people who may need a little support with engaging with school and mainstream learning. Leah collaborates with the school in this program.

“Today (Friday 27 August) we learnt about (Garlngirr) pandanus nuts; when it freshly falls off the tree we collect it and cut it in half. Inside it has nuts that taste like almond nuts. When it is old and dried up, we use it to cook bush tucker, when the nuts are burnt they store the heat for a few hours we use it to cook all sorts of bush tucker."
