Resources encourage 'Children Come to School'

11 September 2018

Over the past 6 months Neighbourhood Watch Australasia has been developing resources which focus on the theme ‘Children Come to School’ for use in Gunbalanya and other Arnhem Land communities.
Neighbourhood Watch Australasia project coordinators Maria Bennett (Chief Executive Officer) and Bernie Durkin (President) have been working in conjunction with local key stakeholders including Gunbalanya school Principal Sue Trimble, senior teacher Hira Morgan, senior students, RSAS team, GEC Tony O’Leary, IEC Donna Nadjamerrek, local NT Police, CEPO Paul Keightley, ACPO Damien Guyula and many others.
The ‘Children Come to School’ book and support materials focus on the same message - getting more children to school.
Education is the golden key to opening opportunities for all types of positive future prospects such as employment, increased self-esteem, breaking down antisocial behaviours and keeping kids (future adults) out of the justice system.
