Upgrades at Cahill's Crossing

10 May 2022

Upgrades at Cahill's Crossing are set to roll out this dry season, with substantial upgrades to the viewing platform, a new forest walking trail and a new shaded picnic area for visitors to rest and enjoy the scenery.
These upgrades were co-designed with the traditional owners to ensure the protection of Kakadu’s unique environment and cultural values.
This project is part of a significant program of infrastructure renewal and development in Kakadu, and when completed, will provide a refreshed visitor site that safely caters for large numbers of visitors.
Construction of the new viewing platform will commence in early May and is expected to be completed in 12-16 weeks. While the viewing platform will be closed to visitors during this period, the East Alligator (Erre) downstream boat ramp and the Manngarre rainforest walk will provide alternative options for visitors to enjoy croc spotting. The actual crossing will still be open during construction.
