Warruwi recreation hall refurbishment & renovations for the island’s OSCH programs

15 February 2019

There have been some exciting renovations under way this month at the Warruwi recreation hall. The two rooms at the front of the entrance, which were previously used as storage spaces, have been transformed into a ‘chill space’ as part of the island’s out of school hours (OSCH) program..

The OSCH team have been busy organising this exciting new space for young people and children recently.

Meanwhile, on January 26 (Australia Day) the community enjoyed a delicious barbecue and a final dance competition to finish off the holidays and there were great prizes to be won.

Soon after, the equipment for the new revamped ‘chill space’ arrived, much to the delight of the staff and young people, and will enhance the capacity of OSCH to deliver education and learning outcomes.

While the school holidays have now officially ended, the Warruwi OSCH team will to hold a lunch at the chill space which is open to the public and continue to build on the healthy foods program.

This will include nutritious food and promoting healthy choices to the youth in the community.

Stay tuned: more renovations to come with plans to expand the chill space mid-year
