West Arnhem represented at Tiwi Island Lightning Carnival

Around 23 Gunbalanya players and five Minjilang players travelled to the Tiwi Islands to represent West Arnhem at the 2018 AFLNT Lightning Carnival in September.
It was a wonderful opportunity to have a team from the West Arnhem region attend the carnival and everyone who participated had a fantastic time at the event.
Overall, West Arnhem finished third, going into extra time during the preliminary finals. The boys played very hard but sadly they lost by 4 points.
West Arnhem Regional Council Senior Team Leader Youth, Sport and Recreation Page McMillan said it was an exciting experience for the local footy players.
“Everyone played really hard and made Gunbalanya, Minjilang and West Arnhem proud,” Page said.
“It wasn’t only a fantastic footy trip but a lot of the West Arnhem players were able to use the opportunity to reconnect with family during their travels.”
The carnival is supported by the Essendon Football Club and the Tiwi Islands and West Arnhem are a part of their Next Generation Academy region. 
West Arnhem Regional Council wishes to thank AFLNT Tiwi Islands, Essendon Football Club and all involved in making the trip happen.
