THEY say the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, and you only have to look as far as the South Goulburn Oval for the proof.

Speaking to The Wire last month, West Arnhem Regional Council (WARC) Services Manager at Warruwi, Kupa Teao, said before and after photos showed the dramatic difference a perimeter fence can make.

“Now that the horses can’t get in, and we have had a bit of rain, the grounds are looking good for its first use on Australia Day for the footy tournament,” Mr Teao said.

Along with the perimeter fencing, the Goulburn Oval Upgrade Project included the purchase and installation of a bore pump and sprinkler system, as well as the seeding and top dressing of the oval.

The project, made possible with grant funding from the Northern Territory Government Department of Sport, Recreation and Racing, was completed in mid-December last year.
