Making the most of the school holidays

10 July 2020

West Arnhem Regional Council’s Youth, Sport and Recreation team in Warruwi recently partnered with the Warruwi school and other community stakeholders including Yagbani Aboriginal Corporation to deliver a special fishing excursion which was enjoyed by all.

Meanwhile, young people in Jabiru have been treated to some exciting rounds of laser tag as part of the school holiday program.
Divided into age groups, the young people were given some high-tech equipment and were able to use an obstacle course set up at the Community Hall with lots of places to hide as the playing field.
This was the first time the holiday program included laser tag and West Arnhem Regional Council Youth, Sport and Recreation Senior Team Leader Kellum Steele said everyone had a great time.
Jabiru youth also attended a junior lifeguard activity at the pool during the holiday program which was a great opportunity to gain new skills in rescues, tows, deep water rescue and survival and flag races. They were also able to enjoy an obstacle course set up like a junior ninja warrior course which involved skills in manoeuvrering.
