Police have once again warned travellers about the dangers of crossing flooded roads following a night rescue at Cahills Crossing on Thursday, December 15.
At around 8pm, a Landcruiser wagon attempted to cross the flooded roadway of the East Alligator River, but stalled half way and was washed partially off the carriageway.
The seven passengers in the vehicle climbed onto the roof where they waited for two hours before a passerby alerted Rangers.
Kakadu National Park Rangers attended and conveyed all passengers to shore safely and fortunately no one was injured.
With the wet season here, it is a timely reminder for all West Arnhem residents to exercise caution when travelling and to never attempt to cross flooded roadways.
