Northern Territory Leader of the Opposition Delia Lawrie visited Maningrida recently, meeting with Traditional Owners and service providers including West Arnhem Regional Council Community Services Manager Adam Cornell. Mr Cornell spoke with Ms Lawrie at a meeting on Wednesday 11 February about issues of concern to Maningrida residents and Council, including funding for road maintenance and upgrades, dog and animal management programs, community fencing and the need for a community morgue.Read more

On Tuesday 20 January, Kakadu rangers were contacted by two people – described as “a bit shaken up” – who had been walking through long grass near a culvert on the Arnhem Highway when a four-metre croc made a snap decision about breakfast and made a lunge at them.Read more

During a recent visit to Warruwi, Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services Peter Chandler has said Federal funds should be used to improve run-down, makeshift police stations set up during the 2007 intervention in the NT.
