WHEN Lare Stanton first came to work at the Jabiru Childcare Centre her son Richard was just 6 months old. Richard is now 15, with a brother, Bruce, aged 12. After raising two sons in Jabiru, Lare is now leaving her position as Childcare Centre Manager to move to Darwin. But she will be back.Read more

AN elder living in Gunbalanya in West Arnhem been awarded an Order of Australia medal for his work in the area during the Mission era. Timothy Nadjowh liaised with church missionary societies and was a point of contact for Aboriginal people between the 1950s and 1980s.Read more

The day is celebrated worldwide on 2 February to mark the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) in Ramsar, Iran, on 2 February 1971.Read more

Northern Territory Leader of the Opposition Delia Lawrie visited Maningrida recently, meeting with Traditional Owners and service providers including West Arnhem Regional Council Community Services Manager Adam Cornell. Mr Cornell spoke with Ms Lawrie at a meeting on Wednesday 11 February about issues of concern to Maningrida residents and Council, including funding for road maintenance and upgrades, dog and animal management programs, community fencing and the need for a community morgue.Read more

On Tuesday 20 January, Kakadu rangers were contacted by two people – described as “a bit shaken up” – who had been walking through long grass near a culvert on the Arnhem Highway when a four-metre croc made a snap decision about breakfast and made a lunge at them.Read more
