200 tonnes of scrap metal removed from landfill

03 April 2020

The Jabiru Landfill is now completely clear of scrap metals after 200 tonnes of material was crushed and removed from the site and taken out of the community recently.
The materials, which consisted of more than 200 car bodies and a variety of used white goods, have been accumulating at the landfill for some time from the community and neighbouring outstations.
Sell & Parker Metal Recycling Services, a national metal recycling company, visited Jabiru recently to crush and collect the materials which will all be recycled.
With this waste now removed from the landfill, it will greatly reduce the community’s environmental footprint in the World Heritage-Listed Kakadu National Park.
