It's midway through the season and the Jabiru Bombers are poised midway on the ladder in the TIO NTFL Men’s Division 2, with a home game to play this month.

On Saturday 19 December, the Jabiru team’s loss to Nightcliff Spartans saw them drop from third place to fifth in the 10-team league. Spartans trail top team Waratah, who are yet to lose a game this season. The final score showed Bombers 7.4-46 to Spartans 9.8-62. Bombers’ Best Players were J. Oddy, K. Naborlhborlh, H. Manakgu, A. Tobin, C. and Nangamu.

K. Naborlhborlh booted 3 goals, with S. Maralngurra, R. Moore, K. Whitehurst, and B. Thorne making up the rest.

After going down to Spartans, the tough-as-nails West Arnhem team bounced back in the following round. On Saturday 9 January, the Jabiru boys trounced Pint 16.13-109 to 3.5-23. And if that Round 12 performance against Pint is anything to go by, the Bombers are well-placed to fight their way back into the top half of the table.

Pint failed to put one through the big sticks until the third quarter, by which time the Bombers were already 13 goals to the good. Six Bombers’ players scored six-pointers during the match, leaving them holding on grimly to fifth place, with Pint in sixth.

Bombers’ Best Players were C. Nangamu, S. Gumurdul, A. Tobin, C. Bangarr, J. Alderson, K. Whitehurst. Bombers’ Goal Kickers: K. Whitehurst 5, S. Maralngurra 4, A. Baker 2, C. Bangarr 2, B. Narlorlman 2, M. Desair 1.

Jabiru Bombers play their next game at home, with a match against Mindil Sharks. The home game gets underway from 2pm Saturday 16 January at Brockman Oval, Jabiru. Be there to show your support for your local team. Food and drinks are available from the clubhouse.
