Colourful Kakadu Triathlon returns

29 March 2021

The eighth annual Kakadu Triathlon will be back in Jabiru on Saturday, 8 May 2021 and online registrations have opened this week.
While the 2020 event could not take place, it is hoped that this year the Kakadu Triathlon will once again attract a huge number of participants to Jabiru for a great morning of enjoyment while embracing community spirit.
The 2021 event will run in the same format involving the open triathlon and duathlon and the junior races, with the event circuit incorporating the town pool and streets of Jabiru.
The triathlon and duathlon includes those over 14 years of age and the junior skills events are for those under 14.
Organisers are hoping for a great turn out of participants once again, with the 2019 event attracting over 130 competitors and more than $10,000 raised for CareFlight.
To open registrations, organisers have worked alongside CareFlight to create a whole new website for the event which is user-friendly and encourages participants and the general public to fundraise for CareFlight. People have the opportunity to ‘sponsor’ some to help reach their target goal, or anyone can make a general donation to CareFlight.
CareFlight is an important service in the Top End which continues to save lives of people in remote communities, including Jabiru, Maningrida, Warruwi, Minjilang and Gunbalanya.
To coincide with the lead up to the event, West Arnhem Regional Council have also been facilitating an 8-week training program which provides Jabiru locals the opportunity to improve their skills before the big event. The training program can be found on the Kakadu Triathlon Facebook page.

Jabiru residents are also reminded that all residential roads will be closed from 6.30am to 9am on Saturday, May 8.
