Generosity extends to school in the Philippines

13 March 2020

Jabiru’s Connie Norris has recently returned back to the community following a trip to her hometown in the Philippines where she has continued her extraordinary charity efforts in the Province of Bulacan.
Connie is behind a valuable fundraising initiative called ‘gift giving’ which involves raising money through recycling efforts in Jabiru to purchase food or equipment for specific groups of people overseas.
This recent trip follows on from her donation last year which included nearly 100 school bags, notebook, paper, crayons, pencils and umbrellas to a similar school in the Philippines.
Over the last 12 months, Connie has been recycling a huge amount of cans and bottles, with help from the Jabiru community, to raise enough money to provide a grand lunch meal for 150 elementary school students in the Province of Bulacan.
Connie assisted teachers to prepare this free meal consisting of Chinese noodles, spaghetti and juice, which she said, “really brightened up their day”.
“I explained the food is from money from recycling in the community,” Connie said, “The children were happy and thankful for the visit”.
As a result of this fantastic initiative, Connie has already begun recycling to raise money for her next trip in 2021 where she will be supporting a group of elderly recipients.
“I am very proud to make the children happy and bring happiness. I thank everyone in the community for their help – it is appreciated,” Connie said.
“Thank you for supporting my charity in the Philippines.”
