Gunbalanya shows strong support for NAIDOC Week

The Gunbalanya community celebrated NAIDOC Week on one huge day earlier this month.
To begin the official proceedings, Traditional Owners and community Elders opened the day with a flag raising ceremony and traditional song and dance at the store, which was then followed by a community march to the oval.
People of all ages joined in the festivities which led into races, tug-o-war, spear throwing, damper making and more. 
There were lots of hungry people who enjoyed the community barbecue, including kangaroo tails on the fire.  
Thank you to everyone who chipped in on the day including: Traditional Owners, ALPA CDP, the store, Team Health, the Daluk activity centre, Injalak Arts, Meatworks, local singers and dancers, artists, GymnasticsNT, 
SCFC, NT Police, Rangers and West Arnhem Regional Council staff.
