Gunbalanya Sports and Social Club always there for community

Gunbalanya Sports and Social Club is continually giving back to the community, and recently the club made another donation of electric wheelchairs to those in need within the community.
The club recently handed over an additional three wheelchairs to community members and now John Nadjalaburnurn, Lamie Warrkidj, Paulette Bumarda, Ruth Nalorlman, Dick Gameraidj, M Nabegeyo and Flora Garnarradj, are all happy recipients of the wheelchairs.
Guy Johnson from the Gunbalanya Sports and Social Club said the club has donated a large number of electric wheelchairs to community members in need over the years.
“It helps with their mobility to be able to go to the shops and get around, otherwise they are restricted with where they can go,” he said.
Guy also said the club is always willing to assist where it can and is always holding events within the community, including the long-running Christmas event they hold every year.
The event, which sees the club donating a present to all children under 16, is set to run in early December.
“I have photos from previous years where the kids are lining up down the street. They come running to the club when they hear Santa ringing his bell.”
The date for this year’s Christmas Party will be set soon.
