THE Welcome to Jabiru Handbook has now been assisting new arrivals in Jabiru for a decade.

The special tenth anniversary edition 2016 is now available. ERA Communities Adviser Leona Katzer said ERA was proud to be a financial supporter of the publication over the past ten years.

“We have printed copies of the handbook available to the public here in our office in the Jabiru Town Plaza,” Leona said.

The handbook, jointly published by Energy Resources of Australia, Parks Australia and West Arnhem Regional Council, contains invaluable information about accommodation, emergency services and safety, shopping, recreational activities and events, children’s services, tourist information, alcohol restrictions and more.

Along with updated contact information for local services, the 2016 edition contains new information local bat species, which periodically set up camp in Jabiru, causing headaches for some residents.

Bats are a protected species in the Northern Territory, and the new content outlines the rights and responsibilities of tenants when deterring bats.

The handbook is also available for download from the Employment page of the new-look West Arnhem Regional Council website at westarnhem.nt.gov.au/employment.
