Jabiru Bombers home game victory

27 October 2016

SP_Bombers home game The Jabiru Bombers won their first home game for the season against the Mindil Sharks recently.

Jabiru Bombers AFL Club hosted their first game of the 2016/17 AFLNT season on October 15th at the magnificent Brockman Oval.
The weather was perfect and the condition of the ground thanks to the West Arnhem Regional Council made for a great day of footy.
Jabiru jumped out the box in the first quarter gaining first use of the ball thanks to new recruit Roy Manirrya and a dominating centreline in Sylvaris “Quicksilver” Gummadul, Captain Richard Lindner and Justin “Punna” Cooper.
The Bombers accuracy in front of the big sticks once again troubled them as they finished the quarter 1:8 to Sharks 0:1.
The second quarter saw the Bombers straighten up a bit with Big Josh “Tomaheats” Heatlie leading from the front at full-foward beginning to find range.
The Bombers backline stood tall with young gun Jackie Brown and the experienced heads of Drew Tobin, Anderson Dudanga and Shaun Namarnyilk keeping the Sharks at bay. The quarter ended with the Bombers 6:12 to Sharks 1:1. In the third quarter AKA the premiership quarter was similar to the second as the Bombers continued to pepper the goal front with Tomaheats, Daniel “Uluru” Hill and co proving to be a handful for the Sharks defence, Craig “Speedy Gonzales” Bangarr was once again in the thick of it kicking majors from his position on the wing.
The Bombers 11:16:82 lead the Sharks 2:1:13 at the final break.
The last quarter proved to be the Bombers best in terms of conversion with the team banging on 5 goals and 2 behinds for the final term to eventually run out clear victors by 95pts. Big goal hauls to Tomaheats with 6 majors and Speedy Gonzales with 4 majors. Bombers 16:18:114 Sharks 3:1:9. Best Players: R. Lindner, J. Heatlie, D. Hill, J. Cooper, C, Bangarr, R. Manirrya.
