Jabiru students recognised at annual awards night

Students of Jabiru Area School were recognised in front of their teachers, family and friends at the 2016 School Awards Ceremony held on Tuesday, December 6.
Jabiru Area School Assistant Principal Matthew Woodward said the awards night recognises exceptional achievements in a range of categories and is a great opportunity to acknowledge the students of Grades 6 and 12 who will graduated this year.
Jabiru Area School Principal Learne Dunne added that the awards evening is a great opportunity to share the students’ achievements with staff and families who have all helped them along the way.
The major award winners for the evening were James Orum who received the Year 12 Dux Award and the Principal’s Award recipient was Jamie Siebert.
The Caltex All-Rounder, which goes to the student who is a leader and a role model, was given to Justin Cooper, while the Long Tan Awards, which represents leadership and teamwork, were awarded to Emily Robb (Year 10) and Rodney Nagawalli (Year 12).
The Year 9 (achievement) Dux Award recipient was Caylis Pierik and the Year 6 Dux was awarded to Chloe Orum.
Endeavour and Achievement Awards were also awarded to the selected students in Grades 1 to 12, with a number of Australia Day Awards and Chief Minister Literacy Awards also handed out on the evening.
