Jam-packed holiday program in Jabiru

16 October 2018

The Jabiru community enjoyed a fun-packed term three school holiday program recently. The program began with daily arts and crafts with Jillian at the library; making all kinds of pieces such as bracelets, masks and mummies based on the ‘Halloween’ theme.
The holidays also included a pancake cook-off and obstacle course in the pool grounds which involved two of the best passed times - activities and food.
There was also a range of sports and activities such as social soccer, basketball and volleyball, which were played at various grounds around town.
The youth were also fortunate enough to channel some energy with Zumba and Capoeira classes held by Maria and Aiden at the community hall. This was followed by a sausage sizzle and movie under the stars with the new inflatable movie screen!
The most popular feature of the holidays was certainly the inflatable pool challenge, bringing competitors young and old to fight to the finish line.
To wrap up the school holidays, Jabiru hosted a zombie parade with the youth from Gunbalanya crossing the river to join in the excitement.
The young people also enjoyed a scavenger hunt followed by fun with the inflatable pool toy.
Thank you to all the facilitators and volunteers for their outstanding work  to make these programs possible.
