Kakadu Triathlon continues to support CareFlight

20 May 2019

More than 130 participants took on the challenge of the seventh annual Kakadu Triathlon held in Jabiru on Saturday, May 11.
Coordinated by West Arnhem Regional Council, the colourful event caters for junior and open competitors  on a short-course triathlon and duathlon. This year’s event attracted a great number of competitors from Darwin and Jabiru and collectively, the event raised more than $10,000 for CareFlight.
In the results, Jabiru participants including Mathew Broster did well to take first place in the Men’s Open Duathlon and Gavin and Kade Chapman took the win in the Open Team Duathlon. Leisa Puckering also came in the top three  in the Open Women’s Triathlon.

General Manager – Northern Territory of CareFlight Philip Roberts said, “CareFlight appreciates the support of the Jabiru community and all the competitors and their supporters from across the Top End. The funds raised will help CareFlight in our mission to save lives and speed recovery.”
The 2019 coordinating committee would like to give a final shout out to every single person, who in some way, contributed to the great success of the event and helped to raise over $10,000 for CareFlight.
The biggest thank you must go to the Race Officials: John Thyne, Gary Wall, Tim Ellison and team, all of the wonderful participants (in the open and junior categories) and the incredible volunteers.
A particular thank you must go to Jabiru local Anthony Jones who alone raised more than $2000 for CareFlight through his fundraising efforts.
The Kakadu Triathlon Committee would also like to thank all sponsors and supporters whom without, this amazing event would not be possible: West Arnhem Regional Council, ERA, Territory Plant Hire, Hall Contracting, Veolia, the Crocodile Hotel, Blueridge Engineering, Jabiru Sports and Social Club, Foodland, Cooinda Lodge, Puma, Darwin Triathlon Club, CDU, the Post Office, Jabiru Health Centre, Jabiru Fire Station, Sodexo, Peter Keepence Photography.

A big congratulations to the winners of the Kakadu Triathlon raffle; Reubon Thurbon, Darylle Wilkins, Janelle Fletcher, Brian Hylands, Charlie Whitaker, Kia Hodgson, Dave Stephenson and Anika Delaney. The raffle raised more than $700 for CareFlight and the organisers also wish to thank those who sponsored the prizes.
The event has raised in excess of $65,000 for CareFlight over the past seven years.
