Maningrida was a hive of music, art, dance, sport and culture at the 2016 L’urra Festival held on October 14 and 15.
Approximately 3000 people attended the two-day celebration which showcased the talents and culture of the Maningrida community.
There was a great turn out to all of the events on the program, which included the family fair, opening ceremony, fashion parade, youth dance competition, market day and finale L’urra Concert, with many locals and visitors from around the Top End enjoying the festival.
There was also a variety of sports on display including a basketball competition, junior football, touch football and more.
L’urra Festival Director Noeletta McKenzie said the entire two-days were a highlight.
“All of the festival was the highlight! The fashion parade was my highlight though, thanks to Noni and Kathy,” Noeletta said.
Noeletta also said the launch of the three music clips, which were made by the community with Indigenous Hip Hop Projects (IHHP), was also a feature. The overall winner of the dance off was Salt and Pepper.
