Seventeen students from Maningrida school travelled to Darwin to participate in the Beat Festival recently.
The annual Beat Festival is the NT Department of Education’s performing arts showcase of a combined schools production led by the NT Music School with the support of the Beat Foundation.
This year the theme was ‘stellar’ with many songs focused on space and the galaxy.
Maningrida students were part of a 300 student choir and performed 12 songs each night onstage in front of some 1000 people.
The festival provided the students with the opportunity to meet students from different schools across the Northern Territory and to be able to perform in front of a large audience and be proud of
who they are.
The whole trip allowed students to experience an excursion to Darwin where they ate out for dinner one night, went bowling, visited the wave pool and went horse riding, which was a highlight for most of the students.
