Maningrida turn out to support Dreamtime match

07 September 2020

Maningrida had the opportunity to watch the Dreamtime match featuring Essendon and Richmond on the big screen in the community recently.
As all tickets to the big match live in Darwin were sold out, stakeholders in the community came together to give residents the opportunity to watch the game at home.
With the big screen set up at the pool, the event was enjoyed by all who attended to barrack for their team.
Loki from the Maningrida Pool said there was a really chilled vibe on the night, and it was an exciting game despite the score, so there was plenty to cheer for.
“We had about 10 family groups come along (60 + people) and enjoy the game from the lawns of the Pool. And a big bunch who drove up to the fence in their cars or watched from the lawns on the soccer oval,” he said.
“We served chicken kebabs (thanks to Dr Emma), sausages and fruit at half time so everyone was well fed and ready for the second half.”
A huge thank you to West Arnhem Regional Council (WARC) Service Manager Yanja Thompson who organised the big screen, for helping to greet people at the gate and some expert barbecue skills on the night!
Also to Steve from WARC for the last minute addition of a tow ball to the Pool ute for pick up the screen and to Nick from BAC, Jonathon from Malala, Elle from Air Frontier and others who helped on the night.
Thanks to everyone that came and those who helped clean and pack up afterwards.
