Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel took the Unique Accommodation Award at the 2016 Brolga Tourism Awards.
Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel General Manager Richard McArthur said the hotel has had a successful year so far.
“We have had a massive year and seen significant growth off the back of a number of really challenging years out here in Kakadu, so we are honoured to have been recognised with a Brolga at the Northern Territory Tourism Awards,” Richard said.
2016 has also seen a number of important upgrades to the hotel, including the art gallery.
“We have made a number of important upgrades to the hotel this year, with an emphasis on creating more of an experience for our tourists to assist in a greater understanding of local Indigenous culture,” he said.
“We are very fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of talented Bininj artists and that has allowed us to expand our gallery and collection of beautiful and traditional artworks and this has played a big part in our success this year.
“Ultimately we just hope that this assists in attracting more visitors to this wonderful destination.”
Richard said the award win all comes down to a collective team effort.
“I am so proud of our whole team who have all worked so hard this year and this award means so much to me to have something to show for their efforts,” he said.
