New murals painted at Mardbalk building

13 September 2018

Mural artists Shaun and Katie (aka Kaff-eine) returned back to West Arnhem recently to create spectacular paintings at Warruwi’s Yagbani Aboriginal Corporation building.
The project initially involved jazzing up the new and exciting Yagbani Internet Café and Youth Hub with some artwork in time for the grand opening, and then kept adding more walls and areas to the commissioning!
They have done some amazing work with the murals on the Mardbalk building (including the foyer area and on the front/outside of the building) and working closely with local artists and have taught everyone along the way.
We really appreciate all the hard work and effort to have done all these murals, and their openness to work with new designs, inspirations and interpretations from our local Warruwi artists.
Both Shaun and Katie have said they would love to come back for the opening of the new internet cafe and meeting room, so we might just see them back here again very soon!
The project was funded through the Youth Engagement Strategy from Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
A big thank you must go to the wonderful artists Kaff-eine (well-known Melbourne-based street artist) and Shaun Lee (Larakia man and freelance artist).
