Opening of Gunbalanya Licensed Post Office

The Gunbalanya Post Office has recently transitioned into a Licensed Post Office and to mark the occasion, a community celebration was held on Thursday, December 10.
A huge amount of work from West Arnhem Regional Council staff and Australia Post went into the transformation of the Post Office, and everyone is to be commended for their commitment and tireless efforts.
The transition from CPA required renovations, installations, applications, training, planning, and a commitment to increasing the services available to the community of Gunbalanya.
This includes access to a range of new goods to purchase, bill payments facilities, a range of banking services, money orders, basic ID checks and sale of phone credits.
There was a great turn out on the day for the celebrations and the individual local reactions to the site made the sometimes challenging project, all worthwhile. 
To top it all off, there was a great performance from a local band, a barbecue and an official ribbon cutting by Yvonne Gumurrudul (pictured right).
