Scrap metals removed from Jabiru Landfill

21 November 2019

The Jabiru Landfill has been cleared of all car bodies and scrap metal following a week of crushing and removing of metal goods from the site.
Sell & Parker Metal Recycling Services, a national metal recycling company, visited Jabiru this week to carry out the crushing which also involved transporting all of the metal out of the community to be recycled.
As a result, over 200 car bodies were crushed and removed from the site as well as all scrap metals and disposed white goods including fridges and freezers.
With the removal of all of the waste from the landfill, it will greatly improve the overall waste management and litter reduction services of the site.
West Arnhem Regional Council Regional Manager Service Delivery Gordon Smith said removing this type of waste from the landfill is imperative to the site’s sustainability and is a great step forward for Council.
