Spreading festive cheer around Maningrida

Police sirens and lights led the Santa parade in Maningrida this year. 
West Arnhem Regional Council’s team in Maningrida all got involved, with Shaun and Elijah playing the role of Santa to the community. 
Incredibly generous donations made by Stronger Communities for Children, Maningrida Progress Association, General Store, Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation, Indigenous Literacy Foundation and West Arnhem Regional Council made this event possible. 
The Council team were able to provide 500 party bags to children, over 50 children’s books, some fruit and over 200 household bags containing hygiene items, teabags, milk, noodles and juice. 
Santa was able to visit all community areas including New Sub, Coconut Grove, Side Camp, Top Camp and Bottom Camp. It was such a treat to see so many families and young kids enjoying the joy of Christmas.
