Warruwi radio ready to share community news

13 January 2017

Warruwi Radio’s Darren Narul is back in the seat after touring Taiwan as the drummer with B2M Band.

Warruwi Radio’s Darren Narul is not just a familiar personality on the air.
Darren is also well known for his time on the big stage as drummer of the popular B2M Band which has returned from their latest tour in Taiwan, performing 12 gigs across the country.
Having been with the band for 12 years, performing in front of an international audience is nothing out of the usual, with B2M having previously toured most of South East Asia including Shanghai, Timor and Singapore.
Returning to Warruwi recently, Darren is back in the hot seat of Warruwi Radio and is ready to continue to share the news of the community.
Having taken over the broadcasting role from radio legend Solomon Imeraganyan some 10 months ago, Darren says it took a little while but now he feels right at home with the microphone.
Growing up on South Goulburn Island, Darren speaks both English and Maung and said he enjoys being able to speak both languages on the air.
“I enjoy talking to the community,” he said, “I know everyone here”.
Looking back on a busy year, Darren said he enjoys gathering information from around the community from individuals and local organisations.
The daily broadcasting content varies and Darren is always looking for topics which interest community members, including the tides, seasons using the Maung Seasonal Calendar, fishing, Northern Territory AFL scores and news from the local basketball competitions.
Cultural activities, events and ceremonies are also regularly broadcasted.
Darren encourages Warruwi residents and organisations to share their news and events with Warruwi Radio by popping into the broadcasting office.
