Warruwi's high fliers

30 September 2014

Last Wednesday was family kite flying day at Warruwi Community School. The school invited families to help children fly their kites at the Recreation Hall on Wednesday 24 September.

West Arnhem Regional Council Service Manager at Warruwi, Kupa Teao, said the local school on Goulburn Island had been running the kite project throughout the week.

“They were making kites, painting them, and flying them not so long ago today,” Mr Teao told The Wire on Wednesday.

Students, families and community members got together at the Warruwi Recreation Hall for a wonderful, windy Wednesday of kite flying. There were colourful kites and clever kite pilots galore.

“It was great to see our HACC (Home and Community Care), Out of School, Night Patrol and office teams there to support this community event," Mr Teao said.
