The centenary of the first Methodist mission party arriving at Warruwi was commemorated with a week-long celebration from June 19-26.

This event was organised and managed by the Uniting Church, with a re-enactment of the entrance of Reverend James Watson arriving by boat and planting a wooden cross into the sand to signify the commencement of the Missionary program.

The re-enactment was performed by Rev. Lindsay Parkhill and was a highlight, with around 400 people in attendance on Wednesday, June 22, including dignitaries and those with a history of the island and Missionary program.

Following the enactment at Watson Point, the celebrations moved to the church in town, where sand and shade structure was setup.

Other special events included the Commission of Pastor Jenny, Fijian Congregation Ceremony, Indigenous song and dance, vocational testimonies, song and prayers and special speakers.
