Local Authorities support local decision-making

The Local Authorities for Maningrida, Gunbalanya, Warruwi and Minijlang are actively seeking nominations from community members to the Boards.
Local Authorities are comprised of community representatives and an elected Chairperson, who advise on specific Council community and social projects that impact on their community or region.
The Local Authorities central function is to support local decision-making. 
Each Board receives an annual allocation of funding to be used towards projects of local importance. 
If you are interested in nominating for the Maningrida Local Authority vacancy, please chat to your local Elected Members or obtain a form from the Council Service Manager in your community.
Local Authority meetings are also a great opportunity for community organisations and external parties such as Government Departments to make presentations and deepen their understanding of the communities’ needs, culture and customs.
Meetings of Local Authorities are open to the public and details of meeting dates and minutes of previous meetings are available on the Council’s website.
